Running Adventures with Cthulhu Rising

There are loads of adventures available here at the Cthulhu Rising website. As well as the four campaigns, there are a handful of stand-alone adventures, which are ideal for a first foray into the setting. What follows are some thoughts on these stand-alone adventures, which will hopefully help you decide which to run.

Note: all the adventures described below are available to download free on the Stand-Alone Adventures page of the downloads section.

The first adventures ever written for Cthulhu Rising where EX01 Test Facility 3188 and EX02 Ground Zero. Written as playtest adventures, they are linked only by back-story, and each is designed to be run for a different set of investigators. Both are relatively short (I have run both in convention time-slots of 3-4 hours without problems) and very straightforward plot-wise. They are very much of the action-horror genre, and have little in common with the classic 1920a Call of Cthulhu setting.

Fragmented Sanity - The Keepers Cut leans much more towards the classic Call of Cthulhu investigation narrative. Someone has gone missing in unusual circumstances, the investigators are tasked with finding him. If you want to try out Call of Cthulhu Roleplaying in the 23rd Century, this is an ideal adventure to start with.

Frozen Assets was written to be played in one gaming session of 3-4 hours. It is designed to be a clean cut non-mythos military adventure, with clearly defined goals.
